The first official recording of the songs born from the legendary Mancave Sessions. My New Guilty Pleasure is Jim Hewitt, David Howie, and Cody Lee. These three songwriters decided to get together on a weekly basis back in 2011 with no preconceived song ideas and leave egos checked at the door. Each song was conceived in the morning and recorded live in front of a webcam in the afternoon. The original webcam versions can be found on YouTube. With the exception of the webcam videos and 3 brief live performances, nothing had happened with this material...until now. Shine has been rerecorded in 2019 and will be released on all digital platforms in the next week. For now you can hear the track on YouTube. Maybe it was spurred by the Alpha Juno 2, maybe not, I dunno. Anyway, I dug out the old Tascam 688 Port-a-studio to transfer some of my old masters. Luckily it also plays my 4-track 244 masters. Finding some long lost gems.
I always hear about people making these great finds at garage sales but it never happens to me. Luckily a very cool friend found this Alpha Juno 2 and generously gave it to me for my ongoing exploration in sound. Look out 1984 here I come!!!!
Check it out. Danny Parker from I Love This Town used a bit of Hey Hey Hey, written by me and performed by The Carrie Whitesnakes in this clip. The track starts right about 50 seconds in. Love it! |
